Something We Can Appreciate

I've been diving into the wedding thing this summer, even though we aren't scheduling the date until 2011, but I want to make sure I'm not running around during the last three months. Since I have so much time I've been looking into things that I won't actually get.

For instance, all of the reception halls have a free wedding cake. Yet, I found myself clicking through pages of pictures of cakes online, and I thought you would all enjoy this one:

Ron Ben-Israel

This is quite possibly the cutest cake I've ever seen and the fiancee agreed that it would be great for me. It's not something I would ever choose for a wedding cake, but I still love it!

Buona Sera Senorita, Buona Sera

I never know what to wear when I go to reception halls. I don't want to just go in jeans, because they're all nice places and I'm hoping to get married there. I want to make a good impression, so I've been staying away from short skirts. But, I don't want to look like I'm trying to impress them, so I've been staying away from long skirts and dresses.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Glitter on the wet streets

Sweater - Nordstrom, Top - Anthropologie, Shoes - Simply Vera for Kohls

Not that any of you keep up with the weather in New Jersey, but it's been pretty crummy here. We've had rain 17 this month so far. So that is why I'm still wearing a sweater when most other bloggers I follow are dressed like this because they live in California or somewhere that hasn't been imitating April.

And my face is blocked out because I had crazy eyes. Seriously.

So! To shake off the wet weather I went to the mall!

One of the many by me opened a Urban Outfitters just last week, so it's super new and nice. I bought the following necklace, which is black leather interlacing the metal, and top, which I'm picturing at the beach, and another top, which photographed horribly with my camera (I dropped it, so it gives things weird colors sometimes, like the neon purple infiltrating the second picture). The last top was a loose black crop top, it's not too short, but enough that it's noticeable.

This lovely dress is by Mink Pink. It's very fitted and I almost didn't get it. I know, it's super floral, but it helps counterbalance how fitted and short it is.

As you can see, all the things I bought were black(ish)! I actually went to the mall hoping to buy some brighter colors for summer. I even tried on light pinks and greens but none of it was stuff I wanted. I went into H&M really hoping to buy something colorful, but alas, I found nothing (which usually happens when I go there). The only thing at H&M I really liked, but pulled myself away from was a short leather vest ... which was also black.

The shoes that rock

Thanks to everyone who gave love to my Zara shoes!

Fun fact: the lead singer of The Sounds, Maja Ivarsson, was wearing the same shoes at the No Doubt concert on Sunday! Even though we missed The Sounds opening for No Doubt, the band came back out for one of the last songs of the night and my sister noticed the shoes almost immediately.

We failed to remember the camera when we left for the concert. It's unfortunate because Gwen Stefani had three different outfits during the concert.

This was the first outfit of the night and I think the thing I love about it most is the belly-baring crop top. The outfit was a wonderful mix of '90s grunge-style Gwen and today's fashion designer Gwen.

This was the last outfit of the night and the shirt was way more sparkly in person.

And because the other frontwomen got some spotlight, I thought I'd show Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore. She was kind of amazing live. She's incredibly energetic.

All dressed up

If anyone lives in New Jersey or wants to make the drive, Harold's deli in Edison is amazing. The sandwiches are made to be shared and come out as tall as a person's head (not kidding). Plus, they have a pickle bar that is ridiculous. I probably gained two pounds that day alone, but I still think it was a good choice for my birthday dinner. I'll just ride my bike and go running every day this week to make up for it.
Also, these shoes are one of my purchases from Paris. Yes, I can shop at Zara at home, but it's not the same.

They say it's your birthday

In honor of my birthday (I'm a whopping 22 years old!) I thought I'd make a post of my favorite things:

It's in the bag skirt from Cuffs

Melody Boots by 80%20

Mischen dress

Marni shoes

Silence and Noise ruffle tunic

Truly Madly Deeply tunic

Betsey Johnson bathing suit top

Something Else hooded cape

Dawn McKlevie leather cuff

Clairelafaye victorian chain tank

Georgina Goodman

Fernanda Pereira accordion neck piece

Julian Louie (possibly my new favorite designer)

And the accessory everyone should have:
Savant bandage bralette

I own zero of these lovelies, but I believe if I'm crafty enough I can make the bralette and something akin to the victorian tank. And my next purchases will hopefully be the 80%20 boots and the Truly Madly Deeply tunic. After all, I did get some money today!

The Get Away

Here are pictures from the great European vacation! First up, Poland.

Tychy, a city an hour from Krakow.

Wroclaw, a beautiful city that I fell in love with.

Krakow, I think you've all heard of it?

And here is Paris!

Gargoyle at Notre Dame.

Shakespeare and Co. book shop. I could spend hours here.

My trip was so much fun and my fiancee took so many photos. These were just some of the most interesting. Europe is so beautiful and fascinating to me because it's so old and there is evidence of that everywhere on the streets. The U.S. doesn't have that same kind of history, which makes me jealous!

As much fun as I had, I was exhausted by the end, and I was happy to come home. Also, I was annoyed that I didn't learn the languages, because I felt bad constantly asking people if they spoke English. I felt like such an annoying American!

Showing the love

Okay, so I'm a liar about what my posts will be about. However, I just remembered how much I love Anthropologie!

Not only are the clothes there darling, but I was looking through the newest catalog and they're showing love for indie-ish musicians.

Personally, I thought this was pretty cool of the company.

Back in the saddle again

Lately, my blog has been completely silent. That's because I was out of the country for two weeks vacationing in Europe!

As a present for graduation my boyfriend and I went to Paris for a week and then Poland (where he still has family) for a week. And I have to say, the parts of Poland we visited were so beautiful they easily rivalled Paris. Trust me, I was just as surprised!

Thanks to slightly dreary weather and LOTS of walking, my outfits weren't particularly inspired while there. But I did shop!

For the most part I looked like this. Layering up to ward off the Parisian chill.

The next two photos were taken in Poland.

Also, I got some new bling (I'm so lame) while in Paris. Notice the sparkly engagement ring below!
My boyfriend of five years proposed. Ignore my horrible, horrible face. The real stars are my fiancee and the ring he picked out.

I plan to post pictures from Paris and Poland that do not include my sad lack of fashion, plus photos of the wonderful things I bought!
